Welcome to Shaltat. These Terms ("Terms") apply when you order from us through our website, shaltat.local, or our mobile ordering experience (collectively, the "Site"). By placing an order or using the Site, you agree to these Terms.
Our Site is powered by Virtual Plates LLC ("Virtual Plates"). Your use of the underlying ordering platform is also subject to Virtual Plates' Platform Terms and Privacy Policy.
1. Ordering
When you place an order through the Site, you're placing an order directly with Shaltat. We'll begin preparing your food once your order is confirmed.
You're responsible for making sure the items, quantities, address, contact information, and any special instructions are correct before you submit your order.
2. Pricing, Taxes, and Fees
Prices on the Site are in U.S. dollars. Applicable taxes, delivery fees, and service fees will be displayed at checkout before you pay. Prices and menu items may change at any time. Occasionally a typographical or system error may cause a price to display incorrectly. If that happens, we may cancel the order and issue a refund.
3. Payment
Payment is required at the time you place your order. We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. By providing a payment method, you confirm that you're authorized to use it. Payment is processed securely through our payment provider; we don't store full card numbers on our systems.
4. Order Cancellation
You can update or cancel your order any time before you select "Pay for Pickup" or "Pay for Delivery." Once your order is confirmed, we begin preparing your food right away, so we generally cannot cancel orders after confirmation.
If you need to make a change after confirming, please call the location handling your order as soon as possible (numbers are in Section 18) and we'll do our best to help, but we can't guarantee changes once preparation has started.
5. Refunds and Returns
We want you to enjoy your order. If something's wrong — missing items, incorrect items, or quality issues — please contact us as soon as possible by phone (see Section 18) or at support@shaltat.local.
If we can’t resolve the issue another way, we may, at our discretion, offer:
- A replacement item,
- A credit toward a future order, or
- A partial or full refund.
Refunds are processed back to the original payment method and may take several business days to appear on your statement. Because food is perishable, we don't accept returns of food items.
6. Pickup Orders
If you select pickup, please come to the location shown in your order confirmation at the time indicated. We'll do our best to have your order ready on time. Orders left unclaimed for an extended period after the pickup time may be discarded, and we may not be able to offer a refund in that case.
7. Delivery
7.1 Delivery Area
We deliver only within our delivery zone. You can check whether your address is in range by entering it during checkout.
7.2 Delivery Times
Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. We do our best to meet them, but delivery times are estimates and not guarantees. Weather, traffic, and high-volume periods can cause delays.
7.3 Delivery Fees
Delivery fees, if any, are shown at checkout before you pay.
7.4 Receiving Your Delivery
Please make sure someone is available to receive your order at the delivery address. If you're not available and the driver leaves the order at your address, with a doorman, or at a reception area, the order is considered delivered. We're not responsible for orders that are left at the address per your instructions.
7.5 Delivery Instructions
You can leave special delivery instructions at checkout (gate codes, apartment number, etc.). Inaccurate or incomplete address information may cause delays or failed delivery, and we may not be able to refund failed deliveries that result from incorrect information you provided.
8. Food Allergies and Dietary Information
We do our best to describe ingredients accurately, but our kitchen handles common allergens including wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, and shellfish, and we cannot guarantee that any item is free of allergens or cross-contamination.
If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or specific dietary requirement, please call us before ordering (see Section 18) so we can discuss your needs. You're responsible for confirming whether an item is safe for you before ordering.
9. SMS / Text Messaging
If you opt in to text messages from us, you may receive messages about your order (such as confirmation, status, or pickup notifications) and, if you've opted in to marketing messages, promotional offers, cart reminders, and other updates.
- Opting out: Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe from marketing messages. We'll send one confirmation message and won't send marketing texts after that. You may still receive transactional messages about specific orders you place.
- Help: Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us by phone (see Section 18) or at support@shaltat.local.
- Message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless plan.
- Message frequency varies.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
By opting in, you confirm that the mobile number you provided belongs to you and that you're authorized to receive texts on it.
10. Gift Cards
If we offer gift cards, the following applies:
- Gift cards may be used only toward orders at Shaltat.
- Gift cards have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash, except where required by law.
- Lost or stolen gift cards may not be replaced.
- We may set additional rules at the time of purchase.
11. Your Account
If you create an account on the Site, please keep your password confidential and let us know right away if you think someone else has accessed your account. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
12. Acceptable Use
When using the Site, please don’t:
- Use the Site for anything unlawful or fraudulent.
- Submit false or misleading information.
- Attempt to disrupt or interfere with the Site or other users.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools without permission.
We may refuse service or close accounts for any reason permitted by law.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and our Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Site will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted, or that menu information, prices, or item availability shown on the Site will always be accurate.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shaltat's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site or any order you place will not exceed the amount you paid for the order at issue.
We won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of the Site.
Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above and post the new version on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after we post changes means you accept them.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
17. Powered By Virtual Plates
Our Site and online ordering are powered by Virtual Plates LLC. Your use of the Site and the underlying platform is also subject to Virtual Plates' Platform Terms and Privacy Policy. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Virtual Plates' Platform Terms with respect to the operation of the platform itself, Virtual Plates' Platform Terms control.
