Egyptian food · Hayward
Hayward had no dedicated Egyptian kitchen until Shaltat Guys opened on Foothill Boulevard. We are built around feteer — the hand-stretched, layered Egyptian pastry baked savory or sweet — alongside hawawshi, soujouk, and traditional sandwiches. Everything is 100% halal and the kitchen runs late.
You can find Egyptian plates scattered around the Bay Area, but nobody else in Hayward — or the wider East Bay — builds their menu around feteer. That is the dish we stretch to order: thin sheets of dough folded over ghee and filling, then baked until the layers shatter. It is the closest thing Egypt has to pizza, and it is what we do best.
Every meat we serve is halal. Nothing is pre-assembled and sitting under a lamp — your feteer is stretched and filled when you order it. We are open every day from 4 PM until 11:25 PM, which makes us one of the few halal late-night options in Hayward.
We are at 22380 Foothill Blvd, between downtown Hayward and the Mt. Eden side, which puts most of the city inside a 20-minute delivery window. Order online for delivery or pickup, or call the shop.
